Writing Coptic in Firefox with spell checking support
Firefox
Since newer version of firefox (starting from version 3.0) use hunspell as default spell checker, it is now possible to use the same coptic dictinary files that I have created for hunspell and OpenOffice.I have ported the hunspell coptic dictionary files to the format of the add-on file of firefox and thunderbird. Follow the next steps to install a support for spell checking of coptic:
- install unicode font following this link
- install Coptic keymap for Linux or for Windows
- install the latest version of firefox
- install the addon for coptic spell checking
- Choose another user interface font that has coptic unicode support
Thunderbird
Current stable version of thunderbird seems to be still using the older spell checker (not hunspell). I have compiled current development version of thunderbird and noticed, that this one uses hunspell (see screen shot below).I hope that in future versions, hunspell will be used. The installation steps would be similar to those described above with firefox.
